About me
Maria De Leon is a bicultural and bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) who specializes in Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC). She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from San Francisco State University (SFSU), where she received a specialization certificate in culturally responsive AAC. Maria works at a non-profit organization in Southern California as an SLP, where she conducts AAC evaluations and trials and provides coaching/training. With over ten years of experience in the special education sector as an SLP, response to intervention (RTI) teacher, early intervention specialist, Maria is dedicated to giving back to communities by focusing on evidence-based practices and supporting individuals with complex communication needs. Maria also manages the Instagram account @mariadeleonslp, where she shares content related to AAC.
