Jaimie Fons began her professional career as a speech-language pathologist (SLP) working in a collaborative outpatient clinic with children, teens, and their families to meet their goals for communication. She then worked in center-based programs for 12 years, partnering with educators and families of students to maximize individual outcomes related to speech and language and social communication. Jaimie also guided teams to consider, acquire, and implement assistive technology, including AAC tools and services. In 2020, Jaimie transitioned to a new role as an assistive technology consultant. She works with all educators to promote inclusive design of learning experiences and environments to reach all learners. Jaimie partners to maintain county-wide initiatives with district-level assistive technology leaders and teams of educators working with AT and AAC users. This involves designing team-centered learning experiences over multiple sessions with coaching to support growth for teaching and learning.
